Anticipation.....It is even worse when you have two analysts in the house!

We have our second home study tomorrow. Kenton and I have been playing "what questions do you think they will ask tomorrow". Why oh why can't we just go with the flow? It is too funny how you start to over analyze everything. You don't want to sound rehearsed, but you also want to make sure you are both on the same page. The good news is we are, which means we have turned into each other :). I suppose after 10 years of marriage that happens.

It is also funny to see how we answer some of these question now versus if we were in our early 20's. We just put so much more thought into what we are going to do. It is funny how you start to think about the bigger picture and it's not just you and your husband any more.

  1. I know what you mean. We were nervous too for our home studies, until about 2 minutes in when our social worker told us she was so happy for us. I have found most social workers really do want to write glowing recommendations and are not looking for flaws, rather they see the good things. Just try to remain relaxed and know that she (assuming a she)isn't judging you- she just wants to see your interactions, gather your histories, and most importantly, that she is on your side. Good luck, you'll do great!

  2. Thanks Laura! It was pretty easy and I absolutely love our social worker. She is so full of knowledge and just has a really big heart!

Have you guys heard any updates on where you stand?

  3. Not yet. There was a huge slow down in referrals in the late summer/fall for whatever reason and then with the holidays (the Poles love their holidays!). But, it seems things have picked up recently so we hope to hear soon. Hang in there with all the home study stuff- once its complete you'll breathe a huge sigh of relief and can move on to the remaining paper chase and apostille process (which is usually the most confusing for everyone). Please let me know if I can help or give any advice. Our Polish mommy network is wonderful and since we have all been through it, one of us is bound to know the answer. :)
